The Yale School of the Environment (YSE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of an assistant or associate professor, with research and teaching interests in the broad area of water policy and management.

The successful candidate will conduct research from a social science perspective on the ways water policy and management shape, and are shaped by, issues that could include water accessibility and quality, the protection of ecosystem services, transboundary conflict and cooperation, the water-energy-food nexus, coastal-zone vulnerability, sustainable development, public health, water rights and justice, and climate change. While applicants need not have a sole focus on water policy and management, the position is one with expected teaching and leadership responsibilities within YSE’s curricular specialization on Water Resource Science and Management.

Applicants are expected to have a doctorate in a relevant social science field, which may include anthropology, economics, international relations, law, political science, public administration, sociology, an interdisciplinary degree, or other relevant field.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  1. teach and mentor students at the PhD, masters and potentially undergraduate levels,
  2. develop an internationally recognized research program that involves graduate students,
  3. facilitate interdisciplinary research, and
  4. contribute to building an inclusive academic environment.

Prior to applying, candidates are encouraged to explore the School’s website (http://environment.yale.edu) and consider how their expertise can complement existing strengths within the School. Yale University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and strongly encourages applications from women, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+ community members, protected veterans, and persons from racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in their scientific fields. Applicants should apply online: http://apply.interfolio.com/157324

Consideration of applications will begin December 2, 2024 and continue until the position is filled. Please upload: 1) a curriculum vitae, 2) Representative Research Paper, 2) a statement of research, and 3) a statement of teaching interests. As a part of both the teaching and research statements, we encourage you to consider highlighting your track record and outline of possible future plans for promoting research and teaching in an inclusive environment. Also provide the names and contact information of three professional references who can provide letters of recommendation upon request.

Questions about the faculty search process can be directed to deansoffice.yse@yale.edu.
