Job Details

The Department of Sociology at Northern Illinois University (NIU) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sociology with an emphasis in criminology.

This hiring line is part of the department’s long-term vision for expanding its academic focus on criminology and enhancing student success. Currently, the department’s criminology certificate program is the largest on campus, and this program is being transitioned into a criminology major and minor. The department also offers terminal Master of Arts degrees in Sociology, which includes the option of an emphasis in criminology. Candidates who are dedicated to empowering students from underserved communities through their research, teaching, community engagement, service, and/or mentoring are strongly encouraged to apply.
