Tenure-Track Assistant Professor-Artificial Intelligence

The faculty of the Department of Sociology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9-month, full time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2025. We seek candidates with expertise in the area of socially informed artificial intelligence – with a range of possible foci from AI’s production and development to its consequences or application in analytic methods (among others). This position is supported by a broader presidential hiring initiative that has AI as one of its foci, providing collective opportunities to an incoming cohort of scholars to develop their collective interest in AI.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research, teach, contribute to departmental service, and mentor graduate students in our Ph.D. program.
