The Urban Studies Program at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut invites applications for a tenure-track position in environmental urban studies. While we are open to the geographic area of candidates’ teaching and research expertise, we have some preference for South Asia, Latin America, and/or the Caribbean, or a global-comparative approach across two or more of these regions.

We seek a colleague at the assistant professor level for this broad interdisciplinary area who is an advanced ABD, a newly minted Ph.D. or a postdoc in Anthropology, Geography, Sociology, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies or related fields and demonstrates a promising record of teaching and scholarship in two or more of these areas: climate change, urban sustainability, socioenvironmental justice, mobility and transportation, human migration, and renewable energy.

To apply, please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement describing your research and scholarship, and a statement on your teaching philosophy (including your approach to teaching a diverse student body) by December 1, 2024. Please include a sample of your scholarly writing, course syllabi and evaluations (if available), and contact information for three individuals who will write reference letters.

Trinity College seeks a faculty that reflects the changing demographics of our student body. Our student body is diverse, representing 41 states and 70 countries, with 21 percent U.S. students of color and 50 percent who identify as women. More than 90 percent of students live on campus.
