The McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure- line assistant or associate professor in Sociology to begin Fall 2025. The McCourt School is a rapidly growing policy school at the heart of Washington DC, which includes a diverse mix of scholars from economics, political science, sociology, public administration and other domains. We seek scholars working on policy-relevant topics with demonstrated excellence (or for early career scholars, a high potential for excellence) in research and teaching.

The projected salary range for this position is $93,591 - $103,990 (Assistant Professor) or $124,296 - $144,813 (Associate Professor), which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.

Qualifications

Candidates are expected to have the following:

  • A research agenda that demonstrates strong interests in public policy

  • Expertise in sociology or a related field

  • Have completed or expect to complete a Ph.D. in sociology or a related field such as demography by August 1, 2025
