The Department of Sociology at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor in the area of health/medical and/or environmental sociology to begin fall
semester 2025. The successful candidate will study contemporary topics in health/medical and/or
environmental sociology through the lens of race and ethnicity using quantitative methods. Their
work should have strong potential for external funding. The position begins with the fall semester
2025. The university is home to strong networks of environmental, health/medical, and
race/ethnicity researchers, with collaborative opportunities through Vanderbilt’s Centers for Latin
American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies and Research on Inequality and Health; Programs in
African American and Diaspora Studies, Asian Studies, and Climate and Environmental Studies,
and the Department of Medicine, Health, and Society.
