Assistant Professor in Sociology (23240881)
Applications are invited for the appointment of a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Academy of Geography, Sociology and International Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
The area of specialisation is open. However, the Academy has particular teaching or research interests in fields relating to gender, sexuality, culture, health and aging, social theory, social stratification and inequality, housing and urban studies, environmental sociology, methods, and migration studies including in global contexts. Associate Professors with publicly-funded research will also be considered for appointment with tenure subject to the University's approval.
The appointees are expected to conduct original research and contribute to teaching. Applicants should possess a relevant PhD degree with strong potential in research. Details of the theme areas are available at: https://socweb.hkbu.edu.hk/.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
