UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING

The Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology invites applications for one (1) tenure track position starting Fall Semester, 2025. This position will be hired at the Assistant Professor rank with a preferred specialization in sociology of education and/or the sociology of family, though other areas including racial/ethnic inequality and rural sociology will be considered. The teaching load for this position is five courses per academic year with course reduction possible.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Sociology at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated record of – or potential for – peer-reviewed publications. Demonstrated teaching experience in sociology at the college and/or university level.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the areas of sociology of education and/or sociology of the family (other areas, with specific preference for areas such as race/ethnic relations and rural sociology, will be considered). Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda leading to peer reviewed publications. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college and/or university level. Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to the delivery of our undergraduate program with traditional classroom instruction and online education. Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate advising and service. Potential for grant activity.
