The Sociology Department in the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall semester 2025. While areas of focus are open, we seek applicants with a Ph.D. in Sociology who use quantitative or mixed research methods in their scholarship. Scholars who are excited to mentor undergraduate students in independent research projects using quantitative methods are particularly encouraged to apply.  https://lmu.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/Careers/job/Westchester-Campus/Assistant-Professor-of-Sociology_R9458

Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. They should also demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion, student success, and engaging diverse communities, as the department, college, and university places a high priority on diversity, social justice and inclusive pedagogy in fostering academic excellence. We are therefore especially interested in candidates who are open to helping students develop as local and global citizens through, for example, experiential learning assignments, community-engagement, and/or immersion experiences.  The department is also particularly interested in candidates with the ability to contribute to one or more of our interdisciplinary programs, such as African American Studies, Chicano/a and Latino/a Studies, or Asian and Asian American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, Environmental Studies, or Urban Studies.

Interested applicants are invited to submit electronic copies of the following to LMU’s Application Portal.  Applicants must include: 1) a cover letter addressing teaching and research interests, 2) curriculum vitae, 3) a writing sample, and 4) names/addresses of 3 references by September 15, 2024. A PhD is required; ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate by Fall 2025 will be considered.

Please direct any questions to the chair of the search committee, Prof. Rachel Washburn rachel.washburn@lmu.edu.
